Sister Evelyn Piché, OP

Sister Evelyn Piché, formerly known as Sister Rose David, died on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 90 years of age and in the 71st year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Evelyn was born in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, to David and Ethelyn (Allard) Piché. She graduated from St. Paul High School in Grosse Pointe Farms and obtained a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in school administration, both from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, and a PhD in education administration from Michigan State University in East Lansing. 

Sister Evelyn ministered for more than 15 years in education in Walled Lake, Detroit, Harper Woods, and Anchorville, Michigan, and in Cincinnati and Defiance, Ohio, including three years as principal of St. Ambrose School in Detroit. She then served in the Archdiocese of Detroit Department of Catholic Schools for two years as a staff member and four years on the education development team. She was also superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin, for four years and an educational consultant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for three years.

Sister Evelyn then ministered for 20 years as dean of the Adrian Dominican School of Education at Barry University, a Congregation-sponsored institution in Miami Shores, Florida. Named Dean Emerita in 2006, she became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 2024.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Phyllis Piché and Carol Theresa Young; five brothers: David John, Thomas Bernard, Donald David, Robert Gabriel, and Edward John; and a cousin, Sister Beverly McEachin, OP.  She is survived by her sister Jane Cecilia McGuckin, other loving family members, and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, in the gathering space of St. Catherine Chapel. The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery.
