Gratitude and Reliance on God: A Reflection

In the quiet moments of life—when the noise fades and the heart speaks, I often find myself reflecting on the blessings that surround me. Gratitude is not merely a polite response to kindness; it is a posture of the soul, a recognition that every breath, every sunrise, every act of love is a gift. And at the heart of this gratitude lies a deep reliance on God.

To be grateful is to acknowledge that I am not self-sufficient. It is to see the hand of God in the ordinary and the extraordinary. Whether in seasons of abundance or in times of trial, gratitude reminds us that we are held, guided, and sustained by a love that is greater than my own. During this month, we celebrate Thanksgiving, and there is so much to be grateful for, even during the difficult times we find ourselves in as a country and as a world. It is a time to remember to rely on God.

Reliance on God is not weakness—it is wisdom. It is the understanding that our strength has limits, but God’s does not. When we lean into Him, we find peace that surpasses understanding, courage that defies fear, and hope that endures through uncertainty.

In moments of doubt, gratitude anchors us. It shifts our focus from what is lacking to what has been given. And in doing so, it opens our hearts to trust. Trust that God is working, even when we cannot see it. Trust that God’s timing is perfect, God’s plans are good, and God’s presence is constant.

So let us live with hearts full of thanks and lives rooted in faith. Let us remember that every step we take is not alone, but alongside a God who walks with us, carries us, and loves us beyond measure.

Gratitud y Dependencia en Dios: Una Reflexión

En los momentos de quietud de la vida - cuando el ruido se desvanece y el corazón habla, muchas veces me encuentro reflexionando sobre las bendiciones que me rodean. La gratitud no es simplemente una respuesta cortés a la bondad; es una actitud del alma, un reconocimiento de que cada aliento, cada amanecer, cada acto de amor es un regalo. Y en el corazón de esta gratitud reside una profunda dependencia en Dios.

Ser agradecido es reconocer mi dependencia. Es ver la mano de Dios en lo ordinario y en lo extraordinario. Ya sea en tiempos de abundancia o de adversidad, la gratitud nos recuerda que somos sostenidos, guiados y protegidos por un amor superior al nuestro. Durante este mes celebramos el Día de Acción de Gracias, y hay tanto que agradecer, incluso en estos tiempos difíciles que atravesamos como país y como mundo. Es tiempo de recordar que podemos depender en Dios.

La dependencia en Dios no es debilidad - sino sabiduría. Es comprender que nuestra fuerza tiene límites, pero la de Dios no. Cuando nos apoyamos en Él, encontramos una paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, una valentía que vence el miedo y una esperanza que perdura en la incertidumbre.

En momentos de duda, la gratitud nos da firmeza. Nos ayuda a centrarnos en lo que hemos recibido, en lugar de en lo que nos falta. Y al hacerlo, abre nuestros corazones a la confianza. Confianza en que Dios está obrando, incluso cuando no lo vemos. Confianza en que el tiempo de Dios es perfecto, sus planes son buenos y su presencia es constante.

Vivamos, pues, con corazones llenos de gratitud y vidas arraigadas en la fe. Recordemos que cada paso que damos no lo damos solas, sino juntas a un Dios que camina con nosotras, nos sostiene y nos ama sin medida.
