Dominican Sisters are an international Congregation of 895
vowed women religious whose roots go back to St. Dominic in the 13th
century. We are committed to preaching the Word of God, the formation
of community centered on faith, and ministry to further the values of
the Gospel among ourselves and in our world.
We minister
in 30 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto
Rico and in four countries (Canada, the Dominican Republic,
Italy and Swaziland). Responsive to the "signs of the times,"
we strive to address the needs of the world and to serve where we are
called to go.
Our ministries
developed from the traditional works of education, health care and social
work. Our sisters serve as educators, administrators,
lawyers, social workers, physicians, nurses, pastoral service ministers,
musicians, artists and office workers.
We share a
rich variety of professional and life experiences. Together, we continue
the Dominican tradition of preaching through our prayer, study, ministry
and common life.
More than 195
Associates (married and single men and women) share our journey in preaching
the Good News of the Gospel and in bringing about change in our world.
Our main campus
(Motherhouse) is in Adrian, Michigan, in the Diocese of Lansing. Located
on this campus are the Congregation's administrative offices, Weber Retreat
and Conference Center, and the Dominican Life Center (a continuum of care
for members of the Congregation).
