Adrian Dominican Sisters Historical Area
The historical area presents in visual and audio form a tour through our history as the Adrian Dominican Congregation. Located on the first floor of Madden Hall, the historical area includes three rooms containing pictures and artifacts from various time periods: 1879 to 1933, 1933 to 1962, and 1968 to the present.
Special features include the desk that was used by Mother Mary Gerald Barry, Prioress of the Congregation from 1933 until her death in 1961; a large hand-lettered parchment book containing the names of all the sisters who have made profession in the Congregation; and large panels of photographs depicting Congregation events and ministries. The historical area is dedicated in loving appreciation to Sister Mary Philip Ryan, OP, faithful chronicler of Adrian Dominican women and their life in mission. The historical area is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for holidays, and other times by appointment. To arrange for a visit, please contact Nadine Foley, OP, at (517) 266-3580 or Lee Cooney, OP, at 517-266-3405.
