Mental
Health Services
A
team of three mental health professionals contracted from Chelsea Community
Hospital provides confidential, on-site support to Dominican Life Center
residents as they deal with emotional illness and aspects of aging and
health. The team is available four days a week. Helen Kelley is a psychiatric
nurse therapist, Lissa Perrin is a psychiatric clinical social worker,
and Dr. Frank Colligan is a psychiatrist. They provide treatment and
a compassionate, listening presence for residents as they cope with:
mental illnesses, including
depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder
grief issues
evaluation and treatment
of age-related memory loss and dementia
life changes and transitions
In
addition to seeing residents, the team offers presentations on various
mental health topics and provides consultation and resource information
to DLC residents and staff regarding strategies for dealing with emotional
responses, memory difficulties, chemical dependency and eating disorders.
