Statue of Mary, Mother of God

This moving statue, titled “Mary on Mission,” shows Mary setting out in haste (Luke 1:39). Just as Mary is portrayed in this statue, for over 100 years, Adrian Dominican Sisters set out from this very entrance of the Motherhouse to minister to people in the United States and around the world. Sculpted by artist David Wanner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the elegant statue stands six feet high on a six-foot block of granite. The Most Reverend Karl Mengeling, Bishop of Lansing, led a prayer ceremony and blessing with Sister Donna Markham, Prioress of the Congregation, on November 2, 2007.
