Evensong for Peace takes place on the Motherhouse campus in Holy Rosary Chapel every Tuesday at 5:00 pm and is open to the community. This evening call to prayer is an opportunity to pause with the Adrian Dominican community for prayer on behalf of world peace.
Evensong for Peace, begun in 2004, has been a golden opportunity for us as a community to pray in solidarity with and for a number of groups and individuals who are suffering or who are working for peace. These have included the children killed in Russia and the men, women and children suffering from the conflict in Iraq. We have also prayed in conjunction with the United Nations International Peace Day, held annually on September 21.
Evensong is a call to us by the Spirit to be co-creators of peace at this time in our world. Those who cannot gather for the communal prayer are encouraged, as the Adrian Dominican community prays on Tuesdays, to pray for peace with us.
May the Adrian Dominican Vision we hold “to make peace” inspire us to continue to pray for change in our world.
