125th Anniversary and Ministries
to be focus of Live WLEN Broadcast on Friday, May 1

April 28, Adrian, Michigan – If you happen to be tuning into Adrian’s WLEN radio station, 103.9 FM, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon on Friday, May 1, you will most likely hear some familiar voices, speaking about well-known and much-loved ministries. See the attached flyer.

In celebration of the upcoming 125th anniversary of the Adrian Dominican Sisters’ first foundation in Adrian, WLEN will be doing their morning broadcast live from the Adrian Room in Madden Hall. The schedule of appearances by our very own on-air radio personalities is as follows: 9:20 a.m., Sister Nadine Foley, OP, the 125th anniversary celebration; 9:42 a.m., Sister Peg Albert, OP, Siena Heights University; 9:56 a.m., Sister Joella Miller, OP, and 10:05 a.m., Sue Huetter, Weber Center; 10:20 and 10:42 a.m., Sister Mary Soher, OP, Formation; 10:56 a.m., Margaret Weber, and 11:05 a.m., and Lura Mack, Portfolio Advisory Board (PAB); 11:20 a.m., Sister Carleen Maly, OP and 11:42 a.m.,  Sisters Marie Schoenlein, OP, and Virginia Corley, OP, Adrian Rea Literacy Center; and 11:56 a.m., Erica Duquette, St. Joseph Academy.

All are invited to stop by during the broadcast to enjoy light refreshments and music and watch the airing of the live interviews.

Throughout the week of April 26 to May 1, a series of forty-five 30-second commercials will air on WLEN. An ad in Spanish, featuring novice Sister Xiomara Mendez-Hernandez, aired on the night of Sunday, April 26. The commercials lead up to the May 1 live broadcast.  

The weekend of May 15-17 will mark the anniversary of the establishment of St. Joseph Hospital for injured railroad workers, the first foundation of the Adrian Dominican Sisters on the Adrian, Michigan campus. The schedule will include a media reception from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, May 15; prayer in Holy Rosary Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Friday, followed by refreshments in the Adrian Room and the Weber lobby; presentations by Sister Sarah Sharkey, OP, at 10:15 a.m. in Francoeur Theater for Adrian Dominican Sisters and by Sister Rosa Monique Peña, OP at Weber Center for guests; presentation by Sister Barbara Cervenka, OP, on Dominican artist Fra Angelico at 7 p.m. in Francoeur Theater; and a closing Liturgy in Lumen Ecclesiae Chapel at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by brunch.
