Linda Trethewey Begins Role as Rosarian Academy’s Middle School Principal

August 24, 2017, West Palm Beach, Florida – Rosarian Academy’s Middle School students and teachers will begin the 2017-2018 school year on August 28 with a new principal at the helm: Linda Trethewey.

Mrs. Trethewey’s appointment was announced in April 2017 by Stephen Rubenacker, Rosarian Academy Head of School. Mrs. Trethewey joins Rosarian from St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Miami Shores, Florida, where she worked as curriculum director, teacher, and school administrator. She served as assistant principal in both the Maryland Public School System and the Archdiocese of Miami, including 10 years at St. Bonaventure Catholic School in Davie, Florida. 

After graduating from Chatham University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, Mrs. Trethewey went on to receive her master’s of supervision and administration at Towson University. She is currently a doctoral candidate for management and supervision at St. Thomas University in Miami. 

The middle school principal search began February 2017 when Sister Donna Baker, OP, announced her resignation as principal after 16 years of service to Rosarian Academy. She will to spend more time in ministry with the Adrian Dominican Sisters.

In Mr. Rubenacker’s announcement to the school community, he stated, “As a devout Catholic with over 25 years of experience in public, private, and diocesan education, [Mrs. Trethewey] brings a great deal of experience and wisdom to our school. We are thrilled that she will be joining us.”

Mrs. Trethewey officially joined the Rosarian Academy community on July 1. “I am so blessed to join the Rosarian Academy Administrative Team,” she said. “I have already experienced the warm welcome that makes Rosarian Academy a special place. As Middle School Principal, I look forward to fostering the continued rigor and strong curriculum commitment, as well as infusing the gospel message in all areas of the daily routine and curriculum.” 

Linda Trethewey and her husband, Scott, reside in Ft. Lauderdale and have four children.

Rosarian Academy, founded in 1925, educates students from early childhood through eighth grade and offers an exceptionally strong academic program enriched by athletics, visual and performing arts, and community service opportunities.
