US News and World Report logos showing Best Online Programs for Bachelor's and Veterans Bachelor's

February 26, 2024, Adrian, Michigan – For the 11th consecutive year, Siena Heights University’s (SHU) undergraduate Online Learning Program was nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report. Siena Heights tied for 26th among all public and private institutions and was the fourth highest-ranked private institution. Siena Heights was also the top-rated Michigan institution for the eighth year in a row. 

In addition to its Online Program taking 26th, Siena Heights University was ranked 28th in the nation in the Best Online Bachelor’s Program for Veterans category. That was also the highest ranking by a Michigan college or university in that category. 

In the Online Bachelor’s ranking, Siena Heights University was the second private university with a Catholic identity to appear on the list. It was the first Catholic institution to appear on the Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans list.  

“Siena Heights is proud to continue the legacy of our founders, and Catholic higher education in general, by ensuring a high-quality education is accessible to all,” said Dr. Douglas B. Palmer, President of Siena Heights University. “I’m especially proud, as a veteran myself, of our accomplishments in teaching those who serve our great country.” 

U.S. News & World Report’s methodology included evaluating the programs based on engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials, and peer assessment to calculate the rankings. The publication released its 2024 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings on February 7, 2024. 

“I am grateful for this acknowledgment,” said Angela Dunn, PhD, Dean of Graduate Academics and Digital Education. “It is a testament to the dedication of SHU's faculty and staff to academic excellence, innovative online pedagogy, and the accomplishments of our committed students. I am eager to delve into our upcoming initiatives for online teaching and learning.” 

Siena Heights has offered online bachelor’s degree completion programs in selected majors since 2004. Here is how Siena Heights’ undergraduate Online Learning Program has been ranked nationally over the years by U.S. News & World Report: 131st, 2014; 25th, 2015; 72nd, 2016; 24th, 2017; 23rd, 2018; 29th, 2019; 33rd, 2020; 34th, 2021; 35th, 2022; 30th, 2023; and 26th, 2024.
