Adrian

Pioneer Sisters – Shown above, in the early days of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, are Sisters Ambrose Collins and Bernard Ullrich, with Sister DeLellis Madden in the buggy. With them is Dolly the horse, who became legendary among the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
St. Joseph Hospital, the first foundation of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is shown in 1887, the year it was dedicated.
Motherhouse Complex 1913 – The North Building was erected as the new novitiate, but the novices did not move into it until 1934 because the space was needed for the Academy grade school children. The building, also called St. Dominic Hall, was used as the novitiate from 1934 to 1966, when it was demolished to make way for Weber Center.
Motherhouse Group – Groups of Dominican Sisters and St. Joseph Academy students enjoy some fresh air and fun in front of the Motherhouse in Adrian in 1920. This photo was taken three years before the St. Joseph Province in Adrian was officially separated from the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, New York to become their own Congregation, the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
This aerial view shows the Adrian Dominican Sisters Motherhouse Campus today. The campus includes, from the center, counterclockwise: Madden Hall, which houses the administrative offices; St. Joseph Academy, with Siena Heights University’s new Nursing Building across the street; the Regina Residence Hall for retired Sisters, part of the Dominican Life Center (DLC); the Maria Building, also part of the DLC, which provides a continuum of care for retired Sisters; and Weber Retreat and Conference Center (in the center, behind Madden Hall). Portions of the Siena Heights University campus are shown to the far left.
