April 13, 2017, Miami Shores, Florida – Just on time for Holy Week, when Christians reflect on the passion, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the Archdiocese of Miami is showcasing the beauty of the cross – as reflected in a new cross icon at Barry University. The icon cross – the last part of the renovation project of Barry’s Cor Jesu Chapel – was designed by Dominican Father Cristóbal Torres Iglesias, OP. Local artist Michael Javaharian was commissioned to build the eight-foot cross and paint the design on it. Read the entire article by Marlene Quaroni.

November 10, 2015, Miami, Florida – Two Adrian Dominican Sisters – Joan Leo Kehn and Linda Bevilacqua – have recently been featured on the website of the Archdiocese of Miami.


Sister Joan Leo, one of two 2015 recipients of the Lifetime Catechetical Leadership Award, is featured in an article on the archdiocese’s  37th Annual Catechetical (religious education) Conference, held October 24 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. A 60-year Jubilarian, Sister Joan has been involved in catechesis throughout her ministerial life, and is currently co-director of religious education at St. Gregory School in Plantation, Florida. Sister Linda, President of Barry University in Miami Shores, was featured in her blog, Barry and Me, Sister Linda describes the University’s year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary in the 2015-2016 academic year. In addition, she writes of her own long-time relationship with Barry, from her attendance as a student to two separate periods of service at Barry and finally, since 2004, her service as President of the University. The blog is also available in Spanish.
