Crisis Connects Women In Detroit and in Flint

February 16, 2016, Detroit – At the time of the disastrous water crisis in Flint, Michigan, families across the state in another troubled city – Detroit – have reached out in support. Adrian Dominican Sister Nancyann Turner, OP, director of the Rosa Parks Children and Youth Program at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, writes in her blog of how the families in Detroit have reached through letters and prayers to their counterparts at the St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center in Flint. Founded in 2002 by Adrian Dominican Sister Carol Weber, OP, and Sister Judy Blake, CSJ, a Sister of St. Joseph, N.E.W. Life offers a variety of services to the people of Flint, from a literacy center to a food pantry and a commercial sewing program.
