April 8, 2016, Miami, Florida – Barry University continued its year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary on April 5 with a lunch-time mini-conference on Earth Justice: Ways of Caring for our Common Home. Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, PhD, President, welcomed five Adrian Dominican Sisters who served as panelists. Sister Patricia Siemen, OP, Prioress-elect of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and founder and director of the Center for Earth Jurisprudence, facilitated the panel discussion. Also serving on the panel were Sister Judy Byron, OP; Sister Carol Coston, OP; Sister Elise D. García, OP; and Sister Mary Ellen Leciejewski, OP. Watch the video of the panel discussion.
Sister Joan Leo, one of two 2015 recipients of the Lifetime Catechetical Leadership Award, is featured in an article on the archdiocese’s 37th Annual Catechetical (religious education) Conference, held October 24 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. A 60-year Jubilarian, Sister Joan has been involved in catechesis throughout her ministerial life, and is currently co-director of religious education at St. Gregory School in Plantation, Florida. Sister Linda, President of Barry University in Miami Shores, was featured in her blog, Barry and Me, Sister Linda describes the University’s year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary in the 2015-2016 academic year.
