February 24, 2016, Flint, Michigan – Local social justice advocacy groups such as Power to Thrive spoke recently at a February 19 press conference on the need to work to bring about an end to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan – and noted that the problem goes beyond Flint. Power to Thrive works with Gamaliel, an organization that trains leaders and “empower[s] ordinary people to effectively participate in the political, environmental, social and economic decisions affecting their lives.” Sister Cheryl Liske, OP, a community organizer, ministers as executive director of Gamaliel of Michigan.
